Naoya Ogura(小倉直也), a jazz trumpeter from Kobe, Japan, has been immersed in jazz since his school days with the jazz band "Hoppin’ Note". His love for big band icons like Count Basie and Glenn Miller grew as he played trumpet and arranged pieces with his high school and later university jazz bands. After leading his own septet at Japanese jazz festivals like Takatsuki Jazz Street, Naoya moved to New York in 2020 to study at the Aaron Copland School of Music. Honored with the Marvin Hamlisch International Music Award and the Jimmy Heath Music Award, Naoya now shares his original compositions and performs with prominent jazz musicians in NYC’s vibrant jazz scene.
